Post-sales service is becoming increasingly important for the TTS group of companies, both as a source of revenue, and as a means of differentiating itself from competitors.
In line with this drive, TTS has opened a new service facility in Bremerhaven, Germany, further strengthening its service network. The facility is intended to cater for TTS’ customers in the car carrier market, many of whom have a presence in Bremerhaven. The German port is one of the largest importers and exporters of cars in Europe – more than 1,350,000 cars every year – and this traffic is growing.
Pure Car Truck Carriers (PCTCs) are RoRo vessels purpose-built for the transportation of different types of rolling cargo, such as private cars and trucks, heavy construction equipment, and other heavy vehicles.
PCTC vessels are usually configured with 10–13 decks for the loading of vehicles with axle loads from 1.2 tonnes to over 50 tonnes. The loading capacity of vessels varies from about 1,700 vehicles to 7,000 units and above. In the past, the majority of car carriers have been 6,000–6,500 unit vessels, but recently larger sizes have been contracted.
The port of Bremerhaven is the sixteenth largest container port in the world, with more than 3,500,000 containers shipped every year, and is still growing fast. Because of its advanced facilities and excellent location, Bremerhaven will enable fast and reliable transport services whatever the destination or mode of transport – and TTS intends to play a significant role in this growth.
